What kind of legacy will you leave?

October 19th, 2010

Leaving a legacy – sounds like something only for the Rockerfellers and other important people who has something of great value to leave behind.

But don’t you think we all leave behind a legacy of some kind?

A legacy is really is a reflection of what was important to you.

My mother passed away 12 years ago. I cherish her memories as a gentle woman, lively and good humored. When I was in elementary, I told people that I wanted to grow up to be like my mother.

No one is perfect, and neither was my mother. I won’t list her faults here, but I am certainly not blind to her shortcomings.

She did not make it in the Guinness Book of World Records. She did not climb Mount Everest or write a best seller. She lived a sheltered life with limited opportunities available to her.

But the legacy she left behind for me is to live a decent life, no matter the circumstances. It may not seem much compared to the Rockerfellers, but the similarity lies in leaving behind a memorial of how their lives were lived.

If you were to die today, what would you leave behind? Are you living out what is important to you?

Make today count towards the legacy that you will leave behind.
