Paper airplanes

September 24th, 2007

Is your family like mine where everyone is usually off in their own room or their corner doing their own thing?

I am on my computer, my husband is on his laptop, each of my children are doing something by themselves.

This activity brings the family for good clean fun, and is workable in any weather.

On this Day 24 of our 30 Days to Better Parenting Challenge, let’s have a paper airplane flying contest.

Give each member of your family several pieces of paper and crayons. I use scratch paper so we don’t use up any trees. Everyone can go at it make their own paper airplanes. There is no rule to designing a paper airplane.

Now find a place either inside or outside if it’s a nice day, and have a contest flying your special creations. Go through several rounds of competition. See if there is an airplane that is a consistent winner. Check out the design of the winning plane, and have everyone duplicate it. Then hold another competition to see if those new ones can beat the old one. You might even learn something about physics during the fun.

Remember to take lots of pictures, especially close up pictures of those creative paper airplane designs!
