9/11 in Remembrance
September 11th, 2009 / 3 Comments
It’s one of those traumatic moments that you can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing at the time the tragedy struck.
On 9/11, I was dropping off my daughter at school, standing in front of the kindergarten playground when I heard our PTA President announce to everyone that the PTA meeting that day was canceled. That was when I first heard about the attack.
Today, I am reminded again that life can hit us hard. Just before school started this month, a promising senior at my daughter’s high school was killed in a car accident. A 39-year-old relative of mine with 3 little girls has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma.
No matter how “safe” we think we are, life is fragile. We can’t afford to waste our time.
Give your kids a big hug and tell them you are proud of them.
Turn off the TV and go outside for a walk with your family.
Give someone at work a smile and an encouraging word.
There are many things in my past that I regret. But God’s mercies are new every morning. And each day, we have a new opportunity to live better than the day before.

I remember that day. I was at the OB’s office in the waiting room when the 2nd plane hit. Everyone was shocked, and I was scared, thinking of what it might mean for the bump in my belly.
That little bump is doing alright.
Only God knows the number of our days. It’s up to us to live them as best as we can. It’s a good reminder to spend time in loving our family and those around us and making an eternal difference for the Lord.
