Make Gingerbread Friends for Christmas

December 11th, 2008 / 3 Comments

I am so excited! Tomorrow my daughter will be coming home from college for 3 weeks of Christmas vacation!

Christmas holidays gives many natural opportunities to spend time together with our children. My younger daughter and I went Christmas shopping for her friends today. We wrapped Christmas presents together with Christmas music in the background. Decorating the house, writing Christmas cards, Christmas caroling at church, looking at neighborhood Christmas lights, cooking – they all lend themselves to family time.

When my older daughter is home, we love to bake together. Last year, we made “Gingerbread Friends” for Christmas. I wrote about it for Parent Hacks. Take a look at our Gingerbread Friends at Parent Hacks, and maybe you’ll want to try it. Make sure you take lots of pictures!

  1. We might not be able to make gingerbread friends, but every year we have a making and decorating cookies.

If only we didn’t eat so many in the process! 🙂

  2. How cute… we don’t normally make ginger bread friends. I did buy a gingerbread house kit this year though and we do Christmas sugar cookies yum!

  3. MammaDawg: post some pics of those cookies. I am sure they are “unique.”

Emily: graham crackers and frosting with all kinds candy for decorations make great “gingerbread” houses. We’ll be making them this year too.
