Kids say the darnest things

Fifth graders were talking in my class today:
Student A: I’m going to do my state report on New York. I went there last summer.
Student B: I’m going to do my state report on New Mexico. I’ve never been there, but it seems like a good state.
Student C: I’m going to do my state report on San Francisco.
Me: um, San Francisco is not a state.
C: Oh. I want to do California, but that’s a country.
Me: umm…
B: Yeah, you can’t do California.
A: San Francisco is a state, isn’t it?
Pick me up off the floor!

LOL! Thanks for the laugh.
On the other hand, if California were a country, it would have “the world’s sixth-largest economy” (Wikipedia).
A reasonable mistake by the students…I guess…
lol – isn’t that just one of the best things about being around kids? I just LOVE the stuff that rolls outta their mouths. 😀
Hilarious. I’m an Aussie and even I know that California is a county.
… isn’t it?
😉
